To be able to move from The Necks directly to Band of Five Names was almost perfect programming. Without breaking the spell, this trio of Matt MacMahon (keyboards), Phil Slater (trumpet, computer) and Simon Barker (drums) just expanded the options. There was miniaturist beauty and tumultuous washes, astringent intelligence and burning emotion all at play.
